This rubber bulb syringe is made in 2 parts designed to separate for ease of cleaning !.

Bulb syringes are an essential part of any whelping kit, to quickly clear airways of newborn puppies by clearing mucus and fluid, Used to remove mucus or fluid blocking the mouth and throat. Clears the nose and nasal passages for easier breathing. And in 1st Aid for washing small cuts and flushing eyes.

Correct Use:

  1. Squeeze the air out of the bulb of the syringe to create a vacuum. (Pushing air up from the base rather than squeezing the sides together, removes more air, creating a better vacuum)
  2. Gently insert the tip into the nostril.
  3. Slowly release the bulb to suction out any mucus or fluid.
  4. Remove the syringe and squeeze the bulb forcefully to expel the mucus.

It's really important to keep all whelping equipment clean, especially bulb syringes when used for aspiratorating. Clean it well with warm, soapy water after each use.

Remove New Born Puppy Mucus or Fluid

Tilt the puppy's head on a downward angle letting gravity help.

Squeeze the bulb until it has deflated.

Place the tip into the puppy’s nose or mouth. Be gentle, but you will need to press it snugly against the nostril to create a seal. If placing in the mouth, be careful not to go past the entrance of the throat, as this could cause injury to the puppy's throat and airway.

Gradually release the bulb. The suction created should draw fluid from the puppy and into the bulb syringe, removing mucus or fluid.

Remove the bulb syringe from the nose or mouth and squeeze out any fluid before repeating  the process above – you don’t want o accidently add or push fluid further down into the lungs.

Repeat the process until there is no more mucus or fluid.
