New Born Puppy Mucus or Fluid Removal

Tilt the puppy's head on a downward angle letting gravity help.

Place the soft tip into the puppy’s nose or mouth. Be gentle, press snugly against the nostril to create a seal.

If placing in the mouth, be careful not to go past the entrance of the throat, as this could cause injury to the puppy's throat and airway. Slow steady suction should draw fluid from the puppy and into the syringe or even just to the outer nostril area, where you may just see small bubbles.

If you don't have a stethoscope you can often hear fluid by simply placing the puppy up to your hear and listening for that "crackling" sound. If mucus is particularly thick, steam will help loosen it before aspirating

Repeat until the puppy is clear.
